Just a little thing I learned in Personality

Are you the type of person who would jump at the chance to jump out of an airplane? (haha, no pun intended) Or does that make you go into an anxiety attack, you'd rather sit at home with a good book, and a good story isenough adrenaline for you?

I learned in psychology recently a fun fact about extroversion/introversion and how it relates to novetly seeking (doing things that get your adrenaline pumping, like skydiving, bungee jumping, etc.)

There is this theory that every person has this need for homeostasis of their adrenaline level. According to this theory, introverts (those who keep more to themself, and are less outgoing) have naturally a high level of adrenaline, and extroverts (those who are extremely outgoing and would rather be hanging out with alot of people most of the time) have naturally a very low level of adrenaline. But the need for homeostasis of adrenaline calls for the level of adrenaline to stay about in the middle at all times.

Introverts are easily susceptable to adrenaline, the littlest things will give them high amounts of excitement. So while introverts have a very high level, they try to stay away from adrenaline-producing activites, which could be anything from simply going to a party or to a social event, to rollercoasters and the like. It is to much excitement for them to bear. They stay away from these sorts of activities in hopes that their adrenaline level will decrease.

Extroverts, on the other hand, need much more adrenaline to keep their inner level, level. Some of the activities that would be much to much to bear for introverts, still aren't enough. And because it's not very often that an extrovert can get enough adrenaline, they shoot for extremely high adrenaline pumping activities, so as to spike they're level way up so that it will be enough until they can spike it up again.

I found this very interesting, and was able to apply it to many people in my life. Such as, one of my friends keeps to herself for the most part, (so she is an introvert) and would never do anything like swim with sharks, go on rollercoasters, or go skydiving. Another friend, is extremely loud and always surrounded by people, and always expresses how much she wants to do crazy things, especially swim with sharks, skydive, and go white water rafting.
